Featured What does this little friar charm have inside?

    There are no markings. It's pretty well made. It's heavy like brass. The ring on top will turn but doesn't seem to do anything.

    But what is that inside the bottom? It looks like a pencil lead or something?

    So... If you pull up on the ring the pencil will extend at the top and the bottom at the same time...?
    Poking around the internet, I see they are also called a magic pencil, but very few of them are figural charm / pendant. I've seen Egyptian king Tut, a bulldog head and a peanut shape.

    He's been soaking in penetrating oil for a few days now. It moved a tiny bit but it went back in to soak some more.
