    Platinum (for jewellery) became popular in the late 19th century, before that silver was often used to set off white stones like diamonds.
    After 1912 white gold began to replace platinum in a lot of jewellery, although platinum was still used for high end jewellery.
    I think the use of platinum in a ring like this makes it likely that it dates from the 1910s.

    What she said. Platninum came around again after WWII and was used a lot in the USA in the 1920s and 1930s. Every other ring of your that I saw had UK hallmarks so I'd guess the diamonds are from there too.
