Hello everyone, I am helping to run a fundraising rummage sale and was hoping to get some advice regarding this wash basin and pitcher that was donated. First, they came in as a set, but it doesn't look to me like they actually go together? Does that seem right? Next, any information anyone can give me on identifying, dating, and valuing them - separately or together - would be much appreciated. And last, if they aren't actually a set, does anyone have an opinion on whether I would be better off selling them separately or together? Thank you all so much! The advice everyone has given me on my other posts has been such a huge help!

The bowl is marked Arnel's. I don't see a mark on the pitcher. And often the decoration is on both pieces, like this one

Unfortunately, the vast majority of pitcher and bowl sets have very little resale value, even those that match. Your two pieces are not a set and neither piece has any significant value. The pitcher especially looks like a fairly recent home decor item. I'm afraid in my home, they would be in the donation or garage sale box. Sorry, just being honest. :shy:

So not terribly old, not matching and not of great value. If they were mine, I'd price them individually but display them together so someone could decide if they wanted to purchase them as "a set" or just purchase one piece. As before, you should be able to use eBay's Active and Completed listings for directional pricing. I'm seeing both quite modest asking and selling prices with supply far exceeding demand.

Thanks! The decorations not matching was what made me suspicious, but since they came in together, I wanted to check with people who know more about this than I do.

That's a great idea for displaying them, thanks! We do look up a lot of vintage or collectable items on eBay, it's such a helpful tool for this, but the more specialty stuff - like the vases or 1850s platter I posted the other day - or stuff like this where we think we know what we're looking at, but we're just not quite knowledgeable to be confident in it, we like to double check with people who know more, just to make sure we're not letting something go for $5 that's worth $50 or $150. (Unfortunately, we have had that happen, so we try to be more careful.) And sometimes we just don't know enough to even know what to search on eBay - sometimes an image search can help, but adding a year or maker can sometimes change the value of an item so much.
Thank you so much for all your advice this week, I can't express how much help it has been!
