Is this a 18th century Kutahya hanging ornament?

I found this at my local thrift & a google image search turned up various versions of a old ornament used to keep mice out of lamp oil?

Like thus:
KUTAHYA POTTERY HANGING ORNAMENT
TURKEY, 18TH CENTURY
egg-shaped, designed to prevent mice from getting to lamp oil.

I don't know how to tell how old it is but there is some crackling on face showing the paint has some age (last 2 photos)

Are these copied? How can I tell if it's real?

How exactly would they keep mice away - like a scarecrow?

The lines look like thermal stress, so they could be more poor storage than age. The glass beads look very modern. Not sure of the rest.

 

An interesting thing. I have no real idea. I agree about the glass beads. Personally your one doesn’t look very old me. Searching online there are other examples noted to be 18th century (not sure if this is true,but some look much older than ours but have very similar motif)

 

I thought it was a Christmas tree ornament at first but after google lens search I decided to buy it "just in case"
I guess I'm going to have to take it to a antique shop & see what they say.

These are still being made, and yours is a recent one. The angel's face has been modified to suit a more modern taste.

They are associated with the Armenian Church, but I don't know much more than that.

The first one says Turkish ottoman- have you found a modern one so I know how they describe it?

You can mention Kutahya, since that seems to be the centre of production.
I would also add the terms 'religious' and 'angel'. Many people collect angel ornaments.
