My research so far tells me Jewels of Joy was registered as a trademark in New York in 1944. I'm trying to date this more precisely. Any other information you can share would be much appreciated as well.

    Thanks!

Id guess 50's as well. I love you are recycling those ,way too many people seem caught up in huge bling at astronomical cost.

  5. Yes, I have no interest in spending a several thousand dollars or more on a new ring! I would much rather have that money go towards our honeymoon or saving for a new home. I think the ring I chose is gorgeous and has a lot of character, and I'm glad it came with the matching wedding band. It cost $476 for the set - I'm not sure if we overpaid or got a good deal, but it seemed fair.

Would this ring be considered mid-century? It seems to have some throwback Art Deco vibes maybe...

I agree with 1950s, it reminds me a bit of my mother's engagement ring and my parents were married in 1956. The flower-like setting was popular to help give a small diamond more presence. So sweet!
I would indeed date it to "mid-century" but it is not in the "mid-century modern" style.
    Is each ring marked 14K?

    Congratulations on your engagement.:)
    Ditto.
I would simply say 1950s, because "mid-century" has connotations with the "Mid-Century Modern" style which is a very specific style.
I can't see that, and there is no need for a fancy label imo, it is a lovely set as it is.

  12. Thank you! I agree it doesn’t need a fancy label. I saved a lot of rings on Etsy before buying this one - they looked very similar to mine and were all labeled Art Deco!

  14. Question - should I get it appraised for insurance even though it was inexpensive?

  15. Me too. I really liked some of the ones I saw on Etsy but didn’t feel right proceeding without trying it on or seeing it in person.

JMHO, but I wouldn't bother... however, others here may feel differently.
The cost of the appraisal, and the increase on the yearly cost of your homeowner's insurance policy if you choose cover it, may end up being more that the set is worth.

not the worst idea.....but it is something you won't be losing anytime soon...:hungry:
A gemologist will know the quality of the centre stone....
    but....
a written appraisal will cost....... and insuring it will cost......... so it will end up being less...... inexpensive !;)

ps.... on a personal note...... u said inexpensive...rather than saying cheap......:happy:
& I laud you for that choice !!!!
