    Hi @Tonycha

    Welcome :)

I can't tell from the pictures what the back looks like. If it has loose thread (looks unfinished), it would be soumac.

Soumak is a type of flat weave, somewhat resembling but stronger and thicker than kilim, with a smooth front face and a ragged back, where kilim is smooth both sides. Wikipedia

I dragged one home, too! Lol

Reading with interest as I own a near twin. I thought mine was 96B80540-A268-49DD-8204-CE1D85408BD2.jpeg 336B30EA-423B-4233-B1A1-E460C2BCB3B3.jpeg made from Caucasian saddle bags.

    Whoo hoo!

If they're not proprietary, I'd love to see your search terms, @i need help!

I find rugs (among other things) such a black art.

I tried adding that rug to my basket in hope of finding a price. Doesn't work that way.

    I think @reader 's looks newer...
Can't tell as much from @Tonycha' s. Possibly older.

    I started with
    Caucasian saddlebag with horses,
    Then added the word,
    Shahsavan, after I discovered it.
Simple searches seem to work well. :)

Thank you so much for the info.....my “old horse rug” google search was not nearly as effective.
