Here's a tile I just found. It's 6 7/8" square,5/8" thick w/ an uneven ('lumpy') face.Appears frm Google to be a Persian Iznik Qajar Style Ceramic Pottery Tile. Tile Frnt.jpg Tile Side.jpg Tile Back.jpg

Iznik is Turkish. Imo it is an Iznik tile, so Turkish, and it looks to be from the late Ottoman period.

The Qajar dynasty was Persian, and the Ottoman empire and Persia were neighbours. There has always been Persian influence in Ottoman arts, sometimes vice versa as well.

With the inclusion of the deer, I would lean more toward Persian. Turkish tiles tend to be strictly floral and/or geometric.

Although Iznik is mainly floral, there are Iznik ceramics with deer.:)

Well, I've learned my something new -- always conflated Iznik with Persian, so now I'll think Turkish!
