I literally gave one away last year. It was full of recipe cards. THe person I handed it to reacted like it was gold bars, so it's in a good home.

 

I wanted to preserve my handwritten cards from family and friends. I get recipes on the internet, but I like them on recipe cards.

 

I have all my mother's recipes that she collected over the years in her recipe box.
I have my own book of the recipes I found in magazines, newspapers etc from way back when, when I was baking.

 

I sold a slew of it several years ago. It was all well made & it brought a very nice profit. I think she marketed her jewelry on QVC.

 

Some of Joan Rivers jewelry goes for good money.

 

Big thank you too you as well. I have a huge amount of recipes. My grandmothers were in her head as I got older I started to ask her I have some but my handwriting. Most have come from friends in the baking industry some home hobby bakers some my own. I have a binder someone had made for me to write mine in & another one for family favorites. Eventually I will have them printed for my kids.

 

These were actually a fundraiser sale collection from a local synagogue. She probably didn't have Grandma's recipes, or great-grandma's by now.

She did indeed. It was worth a fair bit right after she died, dipped, and now it's coming back. It was well-made and made to resemble vintage pieces.

Good idea. I've met a lot of kids who wished they had Grandma's cookbook. The one with her handwriting in it. It's good to make copies.

 

My Granddaughter last year asked me Nana, you have 3 of us, who gets your recipes? I said all of you. So, the ones that I created, I started writing them in a large blank recipe book someone had made for me. After it took me years to type them from my handwritten index cards -I will then order 3 personalized blank recipes binders, and insert & laminate them. A task yes, but for my Grandchildren a pleasure.

 

you should have asked...... which one of you wants them???

@Houseful - I forgot to tell you that many of her pieces were part of "collections" & so if you are going to sell them you might do well to search for them online to see if or what collections they belong.

 

I love it when they get near the end of an auction and everyone is tired and ready to move on. The auction starts putting up larger lots for sale.
These 2 pieces came in a large lot. The cameo is 14K. But I need to find out what the building is.
And the other pin is Chinese and marked SILVER. I don't know if the center is glass or some kind of stone.
The last pic is some of the other things in that lot and another lot.

I saw it in person....and that cameo rendering is beautifully done.

 

Beat me to it. I was going to say Venice for the cameo image. The round rivoli pin (the big flower made of round rhinestones) with the AB stones is another winner.

Hit an estate sale this morning. I know the guy running it; he has an antique store. I knew he'd have some things priced high but also know he misses stuff. Did he ever. I spent $75 total, and will get about twice that back from the scrapper for busted 14k bits, earring backs etc. The rest is gravy.

Piece 1 of the gravy - the incense burner in the set in the link. The rest wasn't there. Havdala sets and a Torah yod drew me some odd looks - how did this Baptist chick know Judaica? Easy - grew up in a Jewish neighborhood with a neighbor who still keeps Kosher, three Synagogues in town, and I still hang with this lot! The havdala set retailed for $1395 ...and it's sold out.

The photo album is made of two sheets of aluminum with a brass Star of David. A friend is getting it for Chanukkah. The photos got a bit blurry because my camera does that when the batteries die...which they did. There's a sterling Torah Yod at the bottom with a pearl , hematite and enameled silver necklace. It's Israeli too. One set of Eilat earrings. Ivory chrystanthemum. Three pendants of Jewish tribal names that I need to research. A Victory pin that I think is Jewish WWII USA; I collect Victory pins. And..glorp... a jet pendant with wreath on it. $10. I kid you not.
