Found these two necklaces at two separate consignment stores today. The cherry one was $6.50 and the amber (or bakelite?) one was $14.50. I think the lighter one is butterscotch or egg yolk amber. I shone my phone's flashlight against the beads, and they appear to have almost wooly, filamentlike inclusions, similar to what you see in jade. It's very faint. A couple of the beads have faint darker streaks when held under the light. The beads are very subtly irregularly shaped, heavy, but warm to the touch.

The darker ones could be faux amber, I have some. You need a UV light.

Butterscotch in colour, and I hope it is amber. These are ways of finding out:
    - UV test.
    - Float test.
    - Rubbing vigorously. It should smell of pine and become so static it picks up lint.

My black light finally arrived today. The butterscotch-colored turns an opaque yellowish color under the UV light, with the light reflecting purple against the beads.
