Bronze (?) ladies with birds, what did they adorn and can you decipher the kite mark?

Hello all! Picked these up at an auction, listed as "metal angel statues" with very few images-but I took a chance on them. They appear to be bronze, 5.5"L. I can imagine them on a fancy clock or the like, on a large mantelpiece, what do you think? Also, I was pleasantly surprised to see kite marks impressed but can't make them out other than an "S" and a "W"- any ideas of maker? I'm guessing its use dates them to 1847-1883. Do you recognise the female with bird as a particular goddess for example? Any and all info appreciated, thanks!

She is not out of any tale from classical mythology that I know. Can't decide if the bird is a phoenix, something in the parrot family I don't recognize, or a fantasy bird. And what is the action/gesture she is engaged in? Looks like they were meant to screw down onto something like a mantel edge, but they are not mirror images, as one would expect if they were meant to go at either end.

Yes I thought the same about them not being mirror images!

In terms of not being mirror images, it's possible that they were placed on opposite sides of a piece, on a rectangular / square piece rotated 90 degrees at each corner, or used as a singular decorative ornament (Clock topper, etc.), even though they were found as a pair. Maybe there were three placed and rotated 120 degrees in a circle but one went missing. Just some thoughts...
