    I would think -- with new photo of size tag -- that your hat is newer than the 1920s/1930s. It wasn't terribly long ago that men wore top hats for formal occasions. Here's John F. Kennedy in the 1960s for instance.

    I think Kennedy was the last of them. His inauguration was the funeral of the top hat. He's wearing a morning coat/informal tux in that shot. Was that his wedding?

    Debora-Very sorry it took so long to get back to you (chores,etc).The height of the crown is 5 1/8".
    PS-I've also got a Topper that's made out of smooth shiny silk (no nap/furriness). It's got a wire frame & made by Dunlap.Not sure what kind of silk or if the wire frame means a pop-up model ? I don't really want to smash it down to test it.:nailbiting:
