That's the site I use, the auction site. I do look at the 1¢ shipping, especially in the art section. But I've also taken to using sites closer to me geographically and that helps a little bit. Orange County is the worst shipping offender - when I see the listing is there's, I don't even bother any more. Actual weight 1.5 lbs. - shipping weight 20 lbs ... seriously.

It matters more when I want to buy something to resell, but still. Jewelry should not be expensive to mail. They just don't use USPS/flat rate boxes at all.

Jeez, the BIN site only uses UPS and they've "lost" (ie actually stolen from ripped packages) two pieces of expensive jewelry conveniently at my local hub, and delivered another to a neighbor blocks away from my home...on which I had to interpret a blur and find myself!

I get refunded but that's not the same. So everytime I find something precious I have to pray UPS doesn't get it first. :grumpy: So in that, I prefer USPS, but also it would be nice if they cared about what they input for package size, instead of a ridiculous default or inflation.

Stolen by UPS? How do they get away with that? I assume they have a contract with UPS and that's it. But an online retailer should offer other options for small items that weigh next to nothing. I'm sure they lose a lot of business because of their shipping policies.

OTOH they're making so much money I don't think they care.

I had a family member who worked for one of the non-postal shipping services. The pay looks decent, but it turns out you work way more hours then it's worth, in terrible conditions, so there's a turn over. They said shipping services attract a lot of people with records who can't work elsewhere. She could have them on video stealing or deliberately damaging stuff, and they would get fired for about a week and then hired again when they couldn't find drivers. I once had to report a driver stalking one of our female workers (actually tried to follow her into our backroom) and was told "oh yeah, he keeps getting reported for that...he also sells bootleg clothing out of his truck." :meh:

One of of my items, they straight told me it was a ripped open, empty box. Keep in mind they don't even contact you when this happens...you have to see the delivery exception and contact the seller. Another time I went down to the ups hub and when they found out it was only a "ground" package they all made faces and said "Oh yeah.... Never ship ground. That's a different set of workers than other UPS shipping and a lot of stuff goes missing." :grumpy:

And when you call CSRs, they are trying their best but they are in Asia and very far removed from any of the workers they should be talking to.

Honestly, they need to steal the Amazon stuff because that's replaceable. They wouldn't even know what to do with what I buy. :hilarious:
