    It was originally a bracelet, converted to a necklace, probably by adding a gold bracelet on either side.
    I would consider a more delicate chain for the conversion. So two thinner bracelets.;)

    EIther the clasp died or the bracelet was too short to wear, so....conversion happened.

    I think it might also because of the higher chance of a bracelet getting damages here and there, as one stone has clearly be hit before and some claws disformed and broken
