Can't help, but it is a beautiful basket, even with those minor issues.

 

Something I just noticed on the NMAI pedestal basket - the rim of the pedestal is finished with a simple overcast stitch, like on the base of yours. It would be interesting to see details of the junction between the pedestal and the body of that basket for comparison.

Also just want to say that, given the opportunity, I would have acquired your little basket too. It has good age, signs of original use, and obviously an interesting story to tell.

 

i found this in a thrift store for $12.99. i didn't notice it the first time i walked by that area because it was on the bottom shelf. i saw it on the second pass. i do want to thank all of you for your help. i feel more confident when i do list it for sale that it's unique and an unusual example. i still believe it was culturally used by Pima people. if it was repaired, to me, that makes it even more interesting, even if it isn't as desirable to some collectors.

 

It is a testimony to its life, it was well used and valued enough to be repaired.
