Any idea what logo/initials on 5 year service belt buckle is from?

    My friend won a storage unit In an auction over the weekend & I ended up buying a vintage coffin case guitar case and a box on knick knacks from him.
    The box had 2 old zippo lighters, a military shooting pin, a old Indian head penny - and this belt buckle.
    Does anyone have any idea what the initials (looks like GAE or GAW to me) are for?
    Could this be some kind of years in service?
    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    I think that the G being largest it should be the last letter rather than first,
