Featured ebay belt and buckle wins help

hi folks

couple of pieces i bought on ebay last week, won the buckle on a £10 offer, and the belt was a £15 buy it now

the buckle is huge, with an interesting looking stone ?

the backing of the stone has a metal disk over the top

the lady who sold it stated she bought it in canada in the 70s

im happy with the belt and it fits which is great

nice design, the pink areas are where somebody has attempted to clean it with silver polish

cant wait to clean it up properly

thinking not silver, because of the backs, but must have some silver content (plated ?) because of the tarnish

any help or info on the pieces would be great

 

after a little sunshine clothing, will need a bath to get rid of the pink crud

I think it probably had marcasites in the centre of each ajour link. You can find boxes of replacement marcasites on ebay, for little money.

there are a few tiny marks or flaws but need to get that crud out first

ive got my tshirt tucked in today just to show it off when i have to go out

Just a guess, I started looking at fossil jasper and saw a photo of what looked like yours called ocean jasper. Sometimes getting lost on the internet gets results

 

I did the same...but got stuck on fossil jasper....... and gave up ..

 

its a bit of a pig of a shape for a buckle, i have to say, too
asymmetrical

dont think its silver either, as the tarnish doesnt seem to polish off well

wonder if you could call it brutalist ?
