I found this painting today while thrifting. It appears old & I can't make out the signature; frustrating!
And when I did a image search it came back - on a post card!
It says it's by Karl Rupp & from the 1900's, which I think mine could be?
An anxious hour art - Search Images (bing.com)

Artist postcard sign. K. Raupp: An Anxious Hour, Woman with Girl on the Shore: Manuscript Paper Collectible | Bartko-Reher (abebooks.com)

Could I have the original Karl Raupp painting?(asking because it appears old enough to me), or is it a 'In the style of' or 'school of'?
Can anyone make out the signature?
PS - It's signed on the back in pencil to a Mrs....somebody & then there's an address - maybe the buyer?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
PS - I got a new phone (Galaxy S24) after my old one just stopped after I took a photo of my dog & then tried to take a 2nd - I believe I wore that phone out! So I took these pics with my new phone outside without trying to edit/enhance anything (this phone is a little intimidating compared to my old LG!) - hope they are OK for you.

Here are a few pics after trying my photo edits; maybe make signature easier to decipher?

the postcard would be an image of the original, so look for any inconsistency's
if there are its probably a copy

theres something strange going on in bottom right corner of yours, looks like somebody has over painted over the signature, for whatever reason

So opinions are it's a copy - or still possible it could be the original?
    Any idea of age?
    Thank you all!!

John J. Wrigley, 2645 North Franklin Street, Philadelphia. Bookkeeper. Unlikely that he'd have an original work by a German landscape/genre painter. Are you sure it's not a textured print?

The painting that @Marote found is described as an oil painting on wood panel, not on canvas, 28 x 48 cm - about 11 x 19".

If the original image was popular enough to be reproduced as a postcard, it was probably also copied by other artists (amateur or professional).

Agree. Would have been appealing in its time and widely reproduced. And, coincidentally, almost all of the Wrigley's neighbors on North Franklin Street were German-born.

Well it is a painting- you can see & feel brush stroke on mom's and daughter's sleeves, as well as on boy's shirt & man's sleeve behind her.
And you can see & feel strokes & little bumps of paint in bottom left corner edge/area...dang, it was a almost!
    Thank you.

It looks very much like a textured print on canvas

Yours is a copy. You can see that it isn't as detailed as the original.
Look at the woman's face, for instance. On the original she really has an anxious look, which you don't see on yours.
