I found these 2 vases (is that right?) yesterday at a friend's 2nd hand/thrift store, thought they looked good & for the price (20 each) I thought they were a good gamble!

I did an image search on the mark on the vase/plant pot(?) with the angel/-like creatures on each side and found it is by Wong Lee.
Is there a way to tell it's age? What do you call the figures on each side & the brass/metal rim around the top of it?

The 2nd one I know the odds aren't great but could it be a Murano? How do I tell for the future?

Thank you for any info or any thoughts on these - I'm no glass or pottery guy usually & am sticking my toe in a new area to see how it feels!

I think anything with that food warning on it wont be any older than the 1990s.

I agree with the comment on the food warning. Plus the face of the woman with that smile looks very modern, I don't think an old piece would have that smile.

Two things to keep in mind when trolling for treasures!

yeah im not having a go mate honestly, but nearly 2k for 90s made decorative china is beyond ridiculous

the 1895 founding mark is equally ridiculous

and looks like alot have fallen for it

It is a modern, contemporary piece. Wong Lee International was founded in 1995 and they began exporting in 1999. It does have a commemorative makers mark of 1895 on the bottom that actually has a commemorative meaning of the end of the war between China and Japan in 1895.
Always be careful if a piece imitating an antique says-'Not For Food Purpose'.
The US didn't pass Pure Food and Drugs Act until 1906-hence this 150-200 yr old piece would have to be doing some mighty fancy time trippin'.

    From Cornell Law School:
    https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/21/109.16

“(b) Ornamental or decorative ceramicware initially introduced or initially delivered for introduction into interstate commerce on or after July 13, 1994 appears to be suitable for food use will be considered to be for food use unless:

    (1) It bears:

    (i) A conspicuous stick-on label on a surface clearly visible to consumers

that states in legible script in letters at least 3.2 millimeters (0.125 inch) in height one of the following messages: “Not for Food Use. May Poison Food,” “Not for Food Use. Glaze contains lead. Food Use May Result in Lead Poisoning,” and “Not for Food Use—Food Consumed from this Vessel May be Harmful,” and

(ii) A conspicuous and legible permanent statement of the message selected from paragraph (b)(1)(i) of this section molded or fired onto the exterior surface of the base or, when the ceramicware is not fired after decoration, permanently painted onto the exterior surface of the base. This permanent statement shall be in letters at least 3.2 millimeters (0.125 inch) in height, except that if insufficient space exists for the permanent statement in letters of such height, the statement shall be in the largest letters that will allow it to fit on the base of the piece, provided that the letters are at least 1.6 millimeters (0.062 inch) in height; or ...”

This seems to specify lead. I don't know if there is a more general requirement. Think of all the pieces that only use a sticker. Stickers are so easily lost.

Thank you all - I didn't think it was early 1900s old but wS hoping 50s or 60s. Still for $20 I don't think I'll lose money.
Any idea if 2nd piece is Murano?
    Thanks again!

I came across Wong Lee at a thrift a bit ago, small perfume-type flask. I thought it was vintage too-spent 5 minutes googling away w/ my phone-getting insane price variants-$20,$170,$95,$25-way wackier than the normal Ebay insanity.
I finally passed on it-but it was a real puzzler !
Maybe they're marketed at high end interior decor stores/websites ?
