Hi, I know next to nothing about jewelry and I'm not even sure how this would be worn. It is by a now gone Philadelphia artist named Russell Ferrell. Most of what I can find are smaller pieces like pendants or earrings, though I did find one very large wall hanging somewhere around 53" by 21". Mine is around 6 3/4" by 4". It's a very nice piece and his work seems to have some popularity and value. The three loops on the back remind me of a belt buckle but that doesn't sound right. Not sure what it would attach to. Any help or ideas will be very much appreciated.

It’s really cool. Is it really heavy? Are the loops actually of different sizes or is that just an impression due to the perspective and/or lens?

Maybe it could be used to tie a scarf, lariat style. Or maybe on the shoulder like a scarf pin. If it could be tied so it would stay put.

Had never heard of Russell Ferrell. Interesting artist.

The three loops are all the same size, about 2 3/8" long. The piece weighs just over 6 ounces. I didn't realize holding a scarf in place could be so complicated. The picture doesn't do it justice because of the low resolution. Especially the five small cabochons and one large.

Yes, it is difficult to find information on him, but he sounds like he had a successful career and the few pieces of his work I could find seem to have some demand. I would like to see some of his art work other than jewelry.

Anything in life can be made so complicated that it needs a special thingamajig. Witness e.g. all the kitchen gadgets for sale.

I have a lovely triangular scarf bought from a Portuguese textile artist that has several small holes in one corner. You are just supposed to pull one end of the scarf through the holes. I was visioning something like that with this one, except it sounds too heavy for that kind of use.
