Here I am again, needing to tap the wonderful brains here. I originally thought this would be a carnival glass piece but noooo! And I get nowhere using an image search.
It is 10 1/2" in diameter, 3 1/2" high. It is either clear or very pale gray glass and looking closely I now see it has a ground polished pontil scar.
Many thanks for any and all assistance! 20240306_101231.jpg 20240306_101242.jpg 20240306_101252.jpg

To me it looked like what gets typically described as a "czech/bohemian bride's basket" on glass sites/forums - so I started there. Example:

But then, the more I got looking at the texture and iridescence of it I thought - hmmm - this might be Kralik - I hadn't seen a Kralik bowl/basket of this form (bride's basket) before for sure though.

It is either clear or very pale gray glass

then why do the pics show it to be as colorful as an abalone shell?????

That's all the iridescence on it, just like carnival glass. For that, you have to hold the item up an look sideways at the base where just the glass shows. You can have a red piece of glass that is purple and blue and gold, until you look at the, bottom and see the red glass.

And I found a similar bowl but need wonderful @Kronos to help with the selling price, if you please! And thank you so very much!

I have one more thing to ask about this bowl. What do I call the color? It isn't gray, it isn't clear, lilac? Lavender? MOP?

iridescent or carnival glass colors are most often identified by the color of the underlying glass; and some makers did have names for their different finishes. BTW, I'm not seeing any opalescence in this piece; it is iridescent; opalescence is the appearance of white highlights. From the images here it appears to be possibly iridescent amethyst glass, which may vary greatly from light to dark.

Thanks, Don. The color of the glass is difficult to see even on the one in the catalog, which, I think, looks identical to mine!

And I actually do know the difference between iridescence and opalescence, I guess I just had a brain fart when I titled this thread! :bored:
