Aren't they lovely? The only thing I can read is "l oiseau" [sic] on the back of the one featuring the bird.

Charlie, next time you're in Paris... If you haven't been, do visit the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Sure to give you hours of pleasure.

Yes, do think elements from ormolu garniture likely. Shapes/sizes/color/motifs work. A quick example...

L'oiseau sur la terrasse -- bird on the ground. Fleurs = flowers. Can't decipher the one with the cherub on it -- senfont/senfout?

EXCUSE ME! My brain is not working this morning. Terrasse = terrace, so bird on the terrace. Thanks @Any Jewelry for deciphering the handwriting. Child it is!

L'enfant is carrying items that connect him with Dionysus/Bacchus.

I do think they're lovely, BUT to me they look like the 'not so perfect' borders COULD be covering the edges of decals.....which are VERY NICELY done!!!! Just a thought..........For YOU, I hope they're authentic!!!

Are you sure they are painted now?

They are amazing and I love them.

Perhaps if you want to sell them, Yiu could contact some antique clock dealers. Or maybe you could find a clock that was in need plaque replacements at a bargain price and marry the two. Id like to install them into the tile work in my bathroom.

pics don't really do them justice,as they are zoomed in, and the plaques are small, this is how they look,
