I was out and about this morning and picked this up.

I thought it was pretty.Am wondering does anyone have any knowledge of this type of pin cushion and would love to know when it might date to.
    It measures 7 inches in height by 5 inches approx wide. JPEG_20240207_135344_resize_37.jpg JPEG_20240207_135410_resize_48.jpg JPEG_20240207_135428_resize_5.jpg JPEG_20240207_135454_resize_58.jpg JPEG_20240207_135534_resize_22.jpg JPEG_20240207_135621_resize_87.jpg

    Thanks for any info.

The registration number was used in 1926 so that's the earliest year the glass part was made. But given it's size I would think it started life as a perfume bottle that was later converted by an owner into the pin cushion.

Agree with above. A conversion. And I wonder if stopper and base are not a marriage given how different their designs and proportions are.

I would expect the stopper and base to both carry a meander or fluted motif, not one on one and one on the other.

It’s going to be Davidson or sowerby or bagley I reckon and I lean to Davidson. You can match the registry numbers but it’s not yet online.

Agreed the pincushion is an add on. I think the design is fine. We did a lot of rather inaccurate neo classical stuff in the twenties. Bottom is trying to be a fluted column top and someone thought the Greek motif appropriate.

Oh and it’s probably part of a dressing table set.
