Wonderful Radboud, thank you for sharing such a personal story and the photos. He was talented, I like those pastel drawings.
I am sure @Robert1983 would like to see this as well, he has been tagged, I hope he shows up.

I am glad we can offer you a modest platform here to set things straight. Let's hope enough people will see it, so the true story will be told.
Now go and tell your sister that your grandfather's story is now out there on an international site.:playful:

I spotted the photo of Titus Brandsma, I still have his prayer card in my oma's prayer book.

    Hi nice people,
What a very interesting discussion did you have !

I inherited a painting of (so far I have discovered) Jeanne Brandsma. My opa bought it in Niijmegen, that's written behind.

The strange thing, is that I found this reference on Catawiki of an exact reproduction.

Do you know if Mrs Brandsma painted several copies ?

Thanks a lot for your answer...

Welcome, Marianne. @radboud stam wrote that his grandfather Henk Jaspers (the painter of the Jeanne Brandsma children's paintings) painted from pictures. I hope he sees this and can tell us your 'Petrus' is also by his grandfather.
If so, since there are various versions of the girl paintings, there could also be various versions of the 'Petrus' paintings. Henk Jaspers painted from photos, so there is probably an original of the 'Petrus' painting by another painter.

I have inherited two paintings signed by V.Dias from my father. He purchased these in the late '60's or early '70's. I was hoping the folks in this thread could help provide a little information on who may have actually been the artist? Both are original oils on canvas

According to this thread, his real name was Henk Jaspers (post 18), and he used a lot of pseudonyms, including V. Dias (post 5).

I think this is an instance where knowing the real name is nice, but isn't going to make a difference in value. Values will be comparable, so see what's out there under the various names included in post 5.

Oh, right. I forgot most of this thread, thanks for reminding me.:shame: I'll change my previous post.

In that case all of the information that we are able to give is in this thread already.
@steven nelsen , if you want more information about Henk Jaspers, you could start a private conversation with @radboud stam .
