Thanks Peter for adding me to the Group.

A friend suggested that I check out this Board as she thought I would find it interesting - I certainly do. We are from Cape Cod, Massachusetts and have been antique Dealers for 35+ years operating under the name Walnutts Antiques. We owned a large B&M Antiques Shop here on the Cape for 20 years before beginning to sell at unreserved auction on eBay in 1998. By 2000 we had moved our business entirely to eBay - sold the shop and have not looked back since. We sell on eBay under the user name "walnutts".

We deal in antiques and high quality collectibles specializing in Historical Americana, Western Americana, Antique Photography, Civil War Items, Antique Advertising, Antique Toys, Tobaciana, Native American Indian Items, Autographs, and a smattering inn other fields - we sometimes jokingly refer to the fact that our business could be named "Anything for a Buck"!

We sell on eBay using the low opening bid / no reserve auction format - each Friday evening we launch a 50 item "Weekly eBay Auction" - all items start at $9.00 and all items have no reserves. We have sold items such as a $36,000 Civil War Cavalry Flag and each week include items that sell for over $1000 - everything starts at $9.00 - everything is sold without reserve.

We are Platinum Powersellers with sales averaging approx. $40,000 per month, are TRS with a 99%+ sell through rate.

Over the years we have, like many folks here, accumulated significant knowledge in a number of fields (I a lot about items in a few fields and a little about items in many fields) and hope we can contribute to the group as well as benefit from the knowledge of others. We love to share what we know as we feel that knowledge is only useful if shared. To that end we run an informational / educational Blog through which we try to share knowledge and present interesting histories of some of the more important items we have sold over the past 35+ years. There is nothing for sale on the Blog (we sell exclusively at our weekly eBay auctions) and anyone interested will find it here: www.walnutts.com.

Looking forward to becoming a contributing member of the group!!!

Tom said "have sold" - past tense - and given how long he's been selling, it was probably long ago.

It was sold about 3 years ago - it was amazing - had not seen the light of day since 1901 - was a government issue Cavalry Guidon (swallow tail American Flag) that had been "rescued" by a Massachusetts Infantryman "from beneath a pile of the bodies of Union Cavalrymen" as the soldier's Regiment entered the battlefield at Gettysburg. The silk was amazingly well preserved and retained spots of blood from the fallen heroes. It was purchased by the Museum of the Horse Soldier in Tucson, Arizona and is now on display there!!
