    I remember some time in the 60s there were 12 Dutch guilders to the pound. The euro is ca 2 guilders, so ca 6 euros to the pound.
    A bit of back and forth in the exchange, but is it about the same as you thought?
    Your painting is worth more.:)

    Wasn't an unsubstantial amount of money at the time and the pound was about 1.5x higher than the dollar.

    That address and telephone number comes as belonging to a physician in 1960s and 1970s editions of The Medical Directory.

    Here you go. He was a sailor so subject was appealing. Bought his first bought in 1966.

    I suggest you find a local arts organization. Almost certainly an Irish painter and could be more local.

    Ha found an article in Afloat.ie about Dr Raymond Fieldings life in Sailing who was married to Christine with pictures of them buying their first yacht and all.must be the same detective christine.thats funny.

    Maybe .theres a few pictures by christine Fielding listed in that catalogue i see but is there much of a resemblence in style??

    Would certainly solve the mystry
