If I had that much money to splurge on one item I would not be looking at ebay...

:joyful: Strategy! Not knowing the real value.... Make an offer at how much you are ready to pay!:wacky:

I was following a nice, rare, Meyle and Mayer insect brooch on Ebay Germany... More than 800€ Seller made an offer at 500... Nope! My counter offer at 350€ was accepted!!! Surprisingly, the German seller mis attributed the maker, though the mark was fully visible!:wideyed:

Well you can ask a $1,000,000,000 for a pencil, but that doesn't mean you are going to get it. You can see the seller doesn't sell any $900,000 items.... Lol

I might throw USD$5 at it if I needed a flower vase, but that's as high as I'd go for what looks like Pier One leftovers.

I know nothing about this sort of thing, so I will pass. Not to mention I don't have that kind of gelt.

Actually, I don't think the vase is poor quality--just not that old and not that valuable. I would like to think that the seller lacks knowledge rather than virtue, but I can't imagine why he/she would go to all the trouble and expense of listing this on eBay in this way without asking someone more knowledgeable. Yes, there are other Chinese items listed by this seller at outrageous prices.

Maybe they want to show their peers that they have millions of dollars worth of inventory? Somewhere it shows your total dollar amount listed. Might be impressive to show someone you have twenty million dollars worth of “antiques” listed? I think some things sell at huge tags in money laundering schemes but this is probably some sort of nonsense we can’t even fathom.

Ha, care to try? I think eBay all but forces returns, whether you want to accept them or not.
