Do I have your attention? ;)

This is an odd thing. About four inches tall, absolutely lovely quality. Hole in the top so maybe it had a stopper, maybe it went on or in a Thing.

It's internally flashed glass and it's an optical illusion. It looks as though the inside is a wine glass shape, but it isn't, the hollow interior stops where that "stem" starts.

Thoughts? Other than I think Bohemian, I've no clue.

Perfume? Inkwell? Whatever it is, it's got a great look to it.

A dainty glass trapped inside glass.
I think it is lovely, and also think it could be a perfume bottle. So paging @bercrystal .:singing::kiss:

Maybe literally? Take a decorated stem and encase it in crystal?

Well...except Obb notes that the apparent wine-glass shape is an 'illusion'. That part is a bit of a puzzle to me, but for sure the effect is intriguing...I wish I had found it!

Yup, the “stem” and “foot” and just coloured inclusion. It’s the oddest thing.

    Woo I win!

In all seriousness, the upper shape of the red part is what looked very traditional inkwell shaped to me. Now I want one for my ink...

With a wine stem, you expect the stem and foot to be solid. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the description. Does the internal well conform to that wine "bowl" shape?

I'm just wondering how the effect was achieved. In OBB's example, there is a bubble sitting on right top of the foot.

As an inkwell, it's a beautiful thing.

Hell, it'd be beautiful if it was a doorstop!

Holy hell, that’s spot on. I can’t for the life of me work out how they did it. And yes, the internal area is the shape of the wine glass bowl and would make sense as a well.

it’s going in with my small collection of Georgian glass. I’d have kept it anyway, but that makes it even more hoardable.

huge thanks folks, @TallCakes one is almost identical. And the ones found by inh and sis are obviously the same concept.

Oh, and @TallCakes how on earth did you find that?

I’m not convinced on the stopper on that one, lovely as it is.

anyone got a worthpoint sub and can tell me what it sold for? I’m not selling mine, but interested.

And thank you again, I was being too complex on my search terms I think.

@sassafras , cheers! That’s a fair old price. Mine was a cup of coffee price. I’m a cheapskate.
