Picked this up at a little antique shop in Bridlington earlier this morning. It's on Westgate if you are ever visiting and seems quite reasonably priced. I think it's a Perthshire weight looking at the pattern and rough pontil. It has 15 spokes which is unusual apparently. Or maybe that was just a selling gimmick.

The definition of the canes is quite decent IMO.

    It is beautiful, C.
Can you find a P in one of the canes, usually the outer row? If so, it is Perthshire.

Really? That's interesting to know. I never knew that. I will have a look when I get back to the guest flat. Thanks

The Cane I circled looks different than the rest. I can't tell if it's a P or not but worth a closer look!

What is the yellow stuff that the canes are stuck into? Anyone know? It doesn't look like glass to me, it looks like a sponge.

    Beautiful PW.

Not all Perthshire weights have a P cane. That could also be strathearn.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I sharpened and blew it up a bit.....for you sharp eye peeps!! You can blow it up a little more with "CTR +"....the one I did circle looks like there's either a 'B' or an '8'....to me!

SINCE you pointed it out (didn't even notice that!!!), it does look like there could be a letter in the last one of that 'short' row!!! And that one looks like a "B" or a "P".......

I'll be darned! It looks like one of the canes just fell out! I would never have seen that. In some glass circles certain pieces with flaws are worth more than perfect ones. (not making that up). I wonder if that would be true for this piece?

Here is a closer image. However sunlight is well gone now and relying on mobile phone camera flash. I don't think it's a P though. Just malformed cane maybe.

Guys, thanks for all your efforts. I can't find a P anywhere. I don't think there is one. I'll have a look tomorrow in daylight but think I will be struggling. Maybe it is Perthshire without the P or indeed Strathearn as suggested by OBB.

True, but when they do you have certainty.;)
No, it isn't. The Perthshire P is a definite P.
You can't get more P than the Perthshire P.:playful:

    Absolutely, if it’s got a P it’s Perthshire. And that’s not a P, agreed.
