    IMG_3761.jpeg IMG_3762.jpeg IMG_3763.jpeg IMG_3764.jpeg IMG_3767.jpeg IMG_3769.jpeg IMG_3771.jpeg I bought these pendants online and they just arrived from Spain.
Can you guess why I bought this lot? (Paid less than a 2 coffees)
    Right!
The enamel and silver religious medal is amazing!
I believe its a heart, and in my opinion it could be 18th century.
I cant find anything online that looks the same.
The enamel has some damage unfortunately.

The two other religious medals depict what I think is St Anthony (he is a patron Saint for lost items, which is perfect for someone like me: I m an atheist but some help with finding my lost things is always welcome)
They are silver and I think they are from around 1900.

The pendant that is missing its bail has a glass stone in the middle and its what looks like silver with a gold layer at the back.

    what is your favorite?
Any idea what the 'blob' on the back of the enamel pendant depicts?
Maybe also a heart? (Virtues of Mary?)

That is so sweet, I love it.
I think early 19th century, if I compare it to German religious enamelwork.

She is "Our Lady of the Pillar", the very first apparition of Mary.
Very popular in the Spanish speaking world, and considered their patron saint. Girls named 'Pilar' are named after her.

    Yes, you're right.
According to my grandmother you have to say the following rhyme to him to find whatever you lost:
"St Antonius lieve vrind, geef dat ik mijn .... weer vind.";)
    Ditto.
I wonder if it was once attached/soldered to something else?

AJ, thank you for your reply.
Yes, I knew the St Anthony rhyme.
It has in fact helped me a few years ago to find back my phone that I just misplaced :hilarious:
    Or not.
Its interesting to know the pendant is a 'Our lady of the pillar' I didn't know her yet.
The reason I thought the enamel pendant could maybe be 18th century is the top part where the bail goes through.
Now that I m searching for them I cant find any which show what I want to say.
But indeed, the enamel portrait looks newer so 19th century could definitely be.

Our Lady of the Pillar is the patron saint of Zaragoza so many girls there are named "Maria del Pilar" and called "Pilar" for short. The Virgen of Almudena is the patroness of Madrid so many girls there are... And the Virgin of Hope of Macarena is venerated in Seville so many girls there are...

:stop: Oh ye of little faith!:angelic::joyful:
She is more a Spanish Madonna, hardly known outside the Spanish speaking world.

Slightly different image of her, but similar enameling. The enamel could have been made in the same workshop. Their estimate is 19th century.

The upper part on this one is a cross, the upper part on yours looks like an orb (on virgin and child statues Jesus often holds an orb). Both are fairly timeless religious symbols, I don't know if they indicate a period of manufacture.

Ohh indeed, its an orb! Thanks AJ!
    On a heart pendant.
Anyhow: heart, orb, St Anthony, Pilar...enough Christian Saints and symbols for me! :cat:
    Still happy with them all.
I should really put those St Anthony medals on a chain and wear them so I have help at hand for my ever lost keys/phone/all you can think of:D

All the protection you need during the festive season.
One on a chain, and one for safekeeping in case you lose the chain. That way you still have one St Anthony to help you find the other.:playful:
