Featured J. Singer Bronze Statue Sculpture

One more for today and I promise I'm done. Another acquisition from a local estate auction, this statue of a curvy nude woman is made of bronze on a brass stand with black marble base. She is signed on her foot "J. Singer 1/25". I can't find record of a J. Singer anywhere, is anyone familiar with the name? She is 31.5" high. Thanks for any help.

What a fantastic piece. Very Henry Moore. I found a J Singer that was an american artist,and one that was german,but I dont think yours was a match.That looks like a "quality" piece ,Id research the heck out of it. Never part with it either!

Generally, it refers to women built for comfort, not for speed.

Read comment aloud to husband. Mangled the word. Said "Welp I'll have to Google that." He looked over and said "Ah! Pulchritudinous." perfectly.

There is a reason we have a library instead of a guest bedroom (though I do contribute lol).

Him: "No one uses that word because it doesn't SOUND beautiful."

I'm extremely lucky, but he will undoubtedly use this word on me within a day or two I bet.

 

Here's the story, for whatever it may be worth:
I was in my early 20's. The father of a high school classmate had recently retired as a Captain in the U.S. Navy after 20+ years an' was teaching at university in Albuquerque...he's then in his late 40's, a fine an' respected...nay revered...individual with a sharp sense of humor. One afternoon in conversation over a meal an' a few drinks with his wife an' my parents, he mentioned "the heartwarming abundance of feminine pulchritude surrounding him" on the campus. All the adults laughed an' nodded knowingly...I scampered to my bedroom to consult my Websters Collegiate...'cause I didn't know what the hell he was talking about!
Since then, I may have used that term 3 or 4 times in conversation...an' today for the 1st time in writing. I have a reputation as a smart-ass, an' that's the truth.
