Hmm. I like the experiment in color, and the forms in the rock. The trees stick out to me as heavy handed where the artist was unsure how to distill detailed organic forms. The seamingly accidental overuse of water is usually a thing when you're still learning.

Plenty of people get formal training in the arts but are on a spectrum of ability. Few end up with careers or professional level work. So yes, it could be someone who has had classes.

Would this be considered well executed? (I would think so,but I don’t really know) To me the colours also work well. Not signed, took it out of the frame (got a date and I think the name of the person that had it framed) What do you think of it? Thanks

Somebody squirted some paint on a piece of paper and gave it a good spin.

On a small personal positive note,I sold a painting 2 weeks ago for the equivalent of $260 and I originally paid $4 for it (but yes in between these little successes I buy a lot of random and/or poor art)

The spin art piece has a rather sophisticated palette. And someone thought enough about it to pay to frame it. Could be the work of an artist experimenting in that form.

These are called spin art paintings. Usually common at fairs, markets, tourist spots... Sometimes targeted towards kids because they are interactive and easy to do. They can make pleasing visuals, like any sort of art, but they're more commerical art than fine art and not typically worth anything.

Nice to hear you found a different piece that made you a profit!

And then there's Damien Hirst. From the collection of David Bowie. Auction estimate between £250,000 and £350,000.

Damien had workshops make his pieces. A lot of them are gimmicky imo. He, his agents, and auction houses inflated his prices... selling pieces back to themselves among other things.

But I wish I had his bank roll. :hilarious:

I think you should give yourself more credit than that. You're interested and motivated. Day jobs can be boring. ;););)

No way,Iam enjoying myself and hopefully learning (and I have much to learn) I had 7 paintings accepted now at very a good auction house for auction (I already delivered them) Even if only one of them sell for the ‘mid-range’ estimate then it would almost ‘pay’ for the rest.

I got another 9 paintings/artworks on auction at a other auction house next year (also already delivered and in their storage warehouse) The auction estimates looks worthwhile. But,yes I might have to get a storage unit (ha ha) I buy all kinds interesting stuff (mostly interesting to me :),not so much to my wife and kids..

True but also Life is a lottery of sorts anyway :) And again this is a pastime/hobby for me that I enjoy. I have a ‘real’ and sometimes boring day job. The things I find/buy and that I really like I still keep (well unless selling it will pay all my debt) Im still much more of a ‘collector’ /boardline hoarder than a seller/trader. But I also realised that I can’t keep it all.
