Hi, a recent find and it appears to be wedgwood. I was surprised to see it is all hand painted with not much sign of an underlying transfer. Checking backstamps if genuine it appears to be late 20th C, the W possibly indicating 1894.
Just looking for a pattern name, I see similar patterns called Grapevine which seems obvious but they don't look identical and often without any gilded decoration. Also interested to know how they did such intricate gilding, surely not by hand?
    Saucer approx 4 1/2" and demitasse 2 1/4" tall.
    Any info welcome
    regards

I think you meant 19th C not 20th. Sorry to pick :bag:

A great many patterns here simply never had names at all. Yes, that’s entirely hand gilded. It’s astonishingly skilled, isn’t it. And no transfer used on the painting, either.

    From thepotteries.org:
Basic printed mark on porcelain, c.1878+
    England added from 1891
Made in England added from 1910

You can date your set between 1891 and 1910. W24 would be the pattern number I think, but 1894 is quite possible.

I figured it was as I couldn't see any traces of underlying grey transfer that you sometimes see, amazing skills I agree, and the best part is I have 12 duos in total ! How they all survived is also a miracle ....
    many thanks

always feel a bit sad when I find things like this in pretty much mint condition (although filthy dirty), likely sat in someones cupboards for 100 years and never used, seems a shame.....
thanks to you all who responded

It's the Portland Vase, which Wedgwood was the first to successfully reproduce in ceramic.

    oh well done !
looks identical to mine I would say and seems to confirm that w24 is the pattern rather than the year code with w=whitehall possibly.
    we are making progress !
    many thanks again
