Tell me what the purpose of this product is. Jewelry? Case? Brass. The size of the larger one is 65x20x10 mm. the smallest is 40x17x7 mm. The white metal chain is covered with gold.

The perfume would have been in a vial that slides into the case(s). So this outer case wouldn't smell.
Assuming it was for perfume, of course. We don't know that yet, just exploring possibilities.

Is it for a chatelaine? I purchased a broken one recently with lots of little hanging bits and pieces. The longer piece looks a bit like it could hold-as you suggest, perfume or even scissors? The top part is confusing for sure!

 

Maybe one end for scissors, the other for another implement?

 

Is it possible for a knife? On an officer's dress uniform.

 

It would have to be for something thin and delicate. It doesn't have the quality to be part of an officer's dress uniform.

The smaller bit may have been a "collar" for something... something a little sharp, perhaps, that then slid into the larger bit for safety...?
