From the style of the metal tag, I am guessing this British Airways table is from the 1930's?

    Unfortunately, it has been refinished.

Any idea what this table would be used for? 0-15.jpeg 0-16.jpeg 0-18.jpeg 0-19.jpeg 0-20.jpeg

    THANKS!

I would say 60's, coffee table from a BA departure lounge.

Wasn't British Airways only created in 1974 with the merger of BOAC and BEC?

The Beatles singing "flew in from Miami Beach BOAC" started playing in my head.

Google does say that there was a British Airways Limited in the 1930s before other mergers and then becoming British Airways again in the 70s.

I don't know anything about this table or might it be a bench? The construction is similar to my piano bench that I was gifted by my sister. I think they purchased this piano new in the late 70s early 80s .

I thought piano bench too...cuz of the rounded edges...but i'd suspect a drawer for sheet music....

looks like a lounge end table..

Could be though my piano bench that came with the piano has no place for music. Just a basic bench. I don't know when the construction of that type became popular.

Some photos of British Airways lounges online have end tables of similar general design.

so , when I saw those it kinda led me to end table, of a pleasant design...

but we have a piano seat with no flip top or drawer..... so ??

It could have come from anywhere or anyone of the worldwide lounges or staff lounges.

Bit hard on the butt for a piano stool imo.

LOL you'd get no argument here on that :D!!!!

It was just a thought on a possible alternative use as a bench of some sort but I was thinking more about the construction as a possible clue to the date. Were they building like this in the 1930s? I think slotted, veneered mdf on the sides (I don't know the answer but I do know about how old mine is)

Well, at 32 inches tall, it's not a coffee table nor a piano bench.
Possibly used as a desk or writing table?

Agreed,32 inches puts to bed the current’ great debate! Definitely not a bench. A little table/desk that could have been used for any number of things.

I haven't had much luck finding a date for what I think are called kerf mounted corner brackets. It's probably out there and someone probably knows.

I'm guessing Vitry asked about a possible 1930s date because of the version of British Airways 1935-39. I did make an effort to find logo information though not sure it helps.
