I found these 2 paintings (+ 3 Dalis!) today at my local thrift store. I looked up the artist name V. Tagliavini and found several C Tagliavini but none that start with a V?
The 2nd all I can make out is the last name starts with a E?
They are both in the same type frames and have the same unusual backings, with each corner cut out - what is that for?

Any help with the artists and/or thoughts on the paintings would be greatly appreciated!

They both look like decorative paintings to me.

Italian market scenes. Tons of them out there to be found with a Google Images search.

Aaagghh! I saw first name & varieties came up in search so I bought them hoping by a known artist - I didn't even check 2nd name; I thought they were by same artist because of frames & look!
    Thank you all.

What's up with each corner cut out on backs - so canvas can breathe?

Yep, that's exactly why. It's also a good sign it's a factory painting. Framers do leave vents, but not like this.

Thanks - I hope the Dali I also got is legit; large piece titled 'the voyage' (I think) that is pencil signed & numbered 107 of 300.
I'll take & post photos tomorrow to get an opinion.
Thanks again all - I'm hoping these 2 will at least sell as decorative now & at $25 each at least I can't get hurt too bad!
