They don’t zip smoothly if not real (usually) I own several purchased from an LV store I will check my zippers again to be sure.

NOT true. I’ve posted on other threads with pics of my own bought at retail pieces with cut off LVs. Vuitton tries their best to center and not cut off monograms but they’re not going to waste usable canvas either and the vintage licensed pieces were pretty much all cut off.

Here is the one I am currently using compare the hardware. I will check my other wallets when I get home. The back looks correct as the LV is upside down on a 3 part. The hardware is usually a good way to tell. IMG_3164.jpeg IMG_3167.jpeg

I will get better pictures when I get home. The zipper pull is usually a good thing to look at along with the actual zipper. However, I returned a wallet with a sticky zipper and it is very very rare that happens. Another thing is to carefully look at is the stitching it should all be the same and very precise I have that wallet but in all leather. Nice find especially for 5 bucks, my husband would be proud! They are my one guilty pleasure.

I'm not a designer purse girl. I'm a solid leather made well girl. This was sold for even less than the ticket price because they thought it was a fake and everything in the store was on sale.

Agree on stitching except on vintage licensed pieces which can be extremely itregular.

Odd... a friend's sister worked for LV and that's what she told me several years ago.
If you look on their website, every piece shows the LV's positioned as they are on @evelyb30 's wallet, there is no slicing into the logo. Perhaps LV only shows their best in their advertising photos, of course, but still...

i have more leather from LV. I have a few monogram canvas pieces from vintage to somewhat current. Believe it or not the canvass has held up very well some minimum wear as with anything that is used consistently. The leather has held up better than any other good leather purse.

I believe it. There's a reason that firm has gone on as long as it has.

Trust me on this. YES newer Vuitton is pretty clean but older pieces aren’t. I turned down a new key case about 10 ago as the LV was off center and it was the only one in stock at the time. If I have one piece of LV in the house I have at least 20 including luggage going back to the 70s and my newest piece was 2011 when I stopped. Licensed pieces are a mess but strong as hell. If you want I can post pictures later but if you all go by the supposed rules of the internet and/or LV associates who are not familiar with vintage pieces you will pass up authentic pieces as fake.

Here’s a piece bought new at Bloomies by me in the 80s. IMG_1134.jpeg IMG_1133.jpeg

I % agree! When they first started with handbags they were more careful. I’m unsure of they year they started not being as careful. However, the past maybe 20 years they have been more watchful as it was explained to me by a higher up when fakes started getting better they became more detail oriented. I have a bag from my Grandmother which is from the late 30’s, a tote bag from the 60’s they are both aligned nicely. Some later pieces not as much. However one thing that has not changed in quality is the hardware.

There actually are variances in hardware. Vuitton’s factory pieces are brass or brass coated. The licensed pieces are nickel.

The biggest prob with misalignment are on the licensed pieces which are 1979-approx. 1992. The San Dimas CA factory opened in approx. 1995 and pieces were overall cleaner by then BUT the off center key case from post 2010 that I turned down was a made in France piece.

Finally got a shot of the marks. I can honestly say I've seen a few fakes but never anything with this much detail.

Now what the HECK I'm going to do with a real one....

Not really my style. So many fakes around no one would think I had a real one! And I don't want anyone to think I'd countenance the use of a fake. Fakes are stealing.
