    the bottom surface.....?
excuse my ignorance....... where's the bottom?

I have poked and prodded ..... but none of the piece moves.....leading me to go in another direction.....

The blades are pointy like a needle...and flare out into the ivory case.....

could those side grooves be for a thread cutter ?

I had bought this brooch as a possible secret santa gift possibly, but when I saw it in the sun it sparkled so beautifully that I had to keep it. I wore it to lunch with a vest that has matching colors (circa 1990) and a brown fedora. You couldnt tell me I wasnt styling !

In 1923, Roseville pottery started using the blue ink stamp Rv mark often seen on patterns such as Roseville Carnelian, Rosecraft Panel, Rosecraft Hexagon, Rosecraft Vintage, and Mostique. The mark consists of a capital R with lower case v inside the R.

Roseville patterns produced between 1927 and 1935 were marked with only paper or foil labels and sometimes with the corresponding shape number and size.

Just a few bits, mainly from the Charity shops.
The pearls were £1.50, the large hobnail cut decanter was £2.50. The silver necklace is a Kit Heath. I think the ram pendant is jade, ring attached is silver. The enamelled fob thing is from a shooting club I think. The bird brooch isn’t silver and the stamped brass brooch a bit of a mystery.

Things picked up a bit today. Jumble sale watercolour in clip frame for 20 pence. This artist is quite well known locally and I’ll definitely profit quite a bit on my 20 pence. Called into nearby charity shop, signed Vasart glass £3 and Givenchy necklace £2.

Stuff from Thursday, Friday and...Friday. All I found today was a small bag of kettle corn. The pearls on Thursday were an "oh crud"; the silver clasp and safety chain fooled me out of $15 for fake pearls. The black beads are glass, destined for reuse. The ring however cracked me up. Says MLS and I know too many realtors. Multiple Listing Service! The belt buckle is Mexican silver with gold accents. Paid $25 for the earrings - Stephen Dweck IIRC. Way under retail.

The little fused glass dish was all of $3 and it's signed and has a fused on glass M.

Friday was the church sale from NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN. Stood in line, still paying for it today, for over an hour to be 5th in the door. First person bought everything worth buying and I got the dregs. $14 on jewelry, $4 of which was an overpayment. Crappy sterling earrings that had they been gold would have made me less unhappy. I did get two Italian glass necklaces and a jade (I hope) heart with no marks. They sent all the "plastic and single earrings" to GoodWill, and thus right into a dumpster. There went all the scrap gold and amber! This was their second chance; there won't be a third.

The buckle was $10, btw - half price. Almost forgot to include Mildred, or whatever her name was. She was $2.
