Couple of Asian items

    Picked these up today...

    A brass pot with Chinese mark on the base. Diameter is 18cm. Some kind of water pot maybe?

    A repousse vase which I think may be copper. South Asian/Indian perhaps, looking at the subjects. Handles nicely riveted to the sides of the vase. About 19cm from base to rim.

    Yes, Indian. Are you sure it is repoussé? It looks like it could be cast, but I can't see inside.
    Love the handles. Kasmir often has cobra handles, but the subject doesn't look very Kashmiri.

    I wouldn't know how to tell the difference to be honest. I can try and take internal photos but it's a bit dark. :bag:

    I guess if it's repousse the inside looks like the outside?

    I have tried to photograph the inside. Crap photos but I think they show enough. The inside looks rough so cast I reckon.

    Yes, with repoussé the design is 'poussé' or 'pushed' out, so to speak. And on the outside parts of the hammered design are hammered back in (repoussé) to create more definition in the design.
