I think it's a jewelry embossing stamp. The size is 40x35x12 mm. The drawing is recessed relative to the polished surface. I am interested in what this picture means. It's not just a pattern. Made an impression with paraffin. True, not very high quality. 20231010_165532.jpg 20231010_165548.jpg 20231010_165657.jpg 20231010_170725.jpg

It is a coat of arms, either of a family or a town or region. The helmet suggests an aristocratic family.

Turned them right side up for you:

So it's not for jewelry? What is its purpose? Thank you.

Could be for leather on a book cover?

As if it has nothing to do with it. :)

I think they are concentrating on the fence around the tree, which reminds them of the unicorn in the fenced garden.

But a tree isn't a unicorn, and European heraldry and symbolism has many symbolic fences. And you're right, it has nothing to do with your subject.

@Hollyblue Can you give us an idea of how this engraved block might have been used?

Thank you all for the interesting information. Now the question is what is shown on the stamp.

There's no doubt some proper heraldic term for the way the tree on the shield is contained other than 'fenced', but I don't know it.

In Dutch heraldry it is known as a "Dutch garden" or "Holland garden".;) That usually has a gate at the front though, like the unicorn fence has (behind the lily).
No doubt other countries associate it with their own gardens.

Forgot to add, the fenced garden stands for tending your garden, making sure you have your affairs in order, whether state matters or family affairs.
