There was a good estate sale yesterday which I hit on my bicycle on the way home from school. (That limits how much I can carry / spend. ;))

And then there was an even better sale this morning. One of the owners of a local store that sells Ethnic wares from around the world was moving. Her house was filled with cool stuff.

I'll have some specific questions soon enough but I wanted to share in the meantime. I hope you enjoy! All comments appreciated.

    Very nice, Pottery.:)
The keris is Balinese, although the blade could be Madurese. Too bad about the rust.:( Missing a hilt ring, but that can be replaced.
The lontar - palm leaf book looks Balinese too.
The beaded basket could be Indonesian.
The Shiva Nataraj (dancing Shiva) is either Indian or Indonesian.
The mask is Japanese. Modern version, but beautiful.
There is a PNG carving from the Sepik River region.
    The multi-figure carving looks interesting.
And of course nice Mexican stuff.

Thanks for the identifications! I def think the beaded basket is Indonesian, as are 1-2 others...

And I just love a bright red weaving. Don't need it, but can't not get it when the price is right.

This is the model hilt ring you need:

    2020-09-19 001 001 (640x427).jpg
So a straight-sided ring shape, not tapered like Javanese and Madurese ones. And set with glass.
This one is antique, modern ones look more pristine.;)
They are sold on ebay, search term 'wewer Bali' or 'mendak Bali'. Wewer is the Balinese word, mendak the Javanese word.

If you can post the lontar book open, with all the leaves showing, I may be able to see what it relates to. There are often scenes from Hindu epics.

Is there a Chinese cash coin tied to the string?

Oh, looks great, love it, Balinese.:) And the cash coin, perfect. Missing two cords, which can be replaced, should you wish to do that.
I'll take a closer look tomorrow, it's getting late, off for dinner now.

The cleaver in the last shot needs a good oiling and a trip to the sharpening stone. Bet it still works fine after that. The keris, alas, needs a bit more help. I do have to wonder if, soaked in mineral oil, the poor thing would disintegrate once the rust was off.

I know I'm breaking protocols by having so many items in one thread--sorry-- it wasn't my plan! :D:D

But here's some more pics of the keris:

    What cool stuff!
I have the same Japanese wooden mask and a bigger version of the dancing Shiva.

The statue with the lady and the heart may be based off of a specific Frida Kahlo painting but I'm not sure which one.

Yeah-- thanks! I think some of them may actually be Christmas tree ornaments. They're handmade and quite detailed, so I'll find a more permanent place for 'em.
