Here's a closeup of Rembrandt's 'The Jewish Bride'.I had to shoot this very quickly in-between guards.
Then after leaving the museum we saw this interesting patch of wall.
I've got to admit-i like both pieces.
PS-Just to be completely clear,I currently don't own The Jewish Bride or the section of wall.No Rembrandt's found at this weeks Estate sales.

Rembrandt was an astonishing artist. He could say more with a single stroke of the brush than many artists can accomplish in a week's hard work.

He's always blown my mind. When we were there the Rijksmuseum was displaying their entire Rembrandt collection (which is like the Vatican displaying ALL their Bibles !). Sketches,charcoals,oils-the whole shebang.
Another artist we refell in love with was Frans Halls, the spontaneous honest way he depicts ordinary street people is quite humbling-he shows us the nobility of all humans.
There's an amazing amount of realistic content in some of these 'Old Master's' work-party scenes where folks are partying-dancing,making love & defecating (sorry to be so graphic).
It's just us regular folks in old clothes !

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

You were so lucky to be able to do that. I wish I had known about that exhibition. Maybe would have found a way to travel there!

Once I visited St. Petersburg, Russia (2005). It was work related, and I traveled with one coworker. We were on our own some of the time. My colleague and I both love art museums, and went to the Hermitage three times in the 17 days we were there. One was an official tour, the other two times on our own. The Hermitage owns a large collection of paintings by Rembrandt. We were fortunate to spend a lot of time looking at them. I'm sure they had many more items, but as with most large museums, they can't display everything at once.

The Hermitage, one of the greats. The Hermitage has a nice small little collection of Tlingit artifacts, collected I suppose when Russia occupied Alaska & the PNW Coast.
Here's a Russian Fort just north of Bodega Bay in N. California-'Fort Ross'.

Very interesting! A friend of mine used to live in Santa Rosa, and I visited in 2002. We visited Fort Ross! I bought a small Russian lacquer box at their gift shop.

I think the northern coast of California will be spared, but maybe not completely. Maybe more wind than usual? Looks like the storm is going through the center and east of the state, now that it is getting out of the southern part.

There are several wildfires in far northern California right now, though... So you are right!
