This was sold to me as 9K with no mention of marks. I thought I saw marks and that’s why I bought it. I was dubious of the 9K testament as the seller seemed to call everything 9K without marks and I doubted their testing skills. Now that I have it I have no clue what the marks are unfortunately. I was hoping for easy to ID European marks. These look middle eastern? Filigree is popular in the middle East I think but the symbolism probably isn’t. So made for export I guess or for tourists? It’s nicely made I think. There’s black on the tip of the anchor. Not sure what’s up with that. Could be grunge. It appears to be solid gold but I can’t be sure. Don’t really want to scrape this delicate piece and not sure where my acid is. Any thought on marks or piece overall? Pretty blue enamel on it too. I couldn’t find another like it. 7FA820AE-E903-4B7A-A223-A78DFBD053CE.jpeg 7DBF712B-3E10-4692-ABD4-1055D0A1EC9A.jpeg 5C24AE8F-A3CD-49A4-9E4F-FF2CA0531907.jpeg 41F735CF-78BD-4554-A319-8435011E63DE.jpeg 7319204A-FC01-432C-BB6B-6C2B559EA741.jpeg C9BF7360-2F14-4E5C-A8D2-789D4BA33CB5.jpeg incredibly hard to get clear photos of these tiny marks that are mushy in detail to begin with.

Edit: the pearls are so tiny I forget they are there. No clue if they are real and they are far too tiny to try to rub on a tooth.

The last one I 'fiddled' with a little more.....to try making clearer and larger....but not by much..........like you said @J Dagger, OH SO TINY!!!!! I also de-saturated the color a bit hoping that also would help clarify the mark.....hoping it helps a bit!

Thanks very much! These really make them SO much more clear. The marks are so unclear to begin with I still have no idea what I’m looking at. If there was something clear there you definitely would have made it way easier to see!

Not a source I considered. They have sooo many hallmarks. None that I saw resembled what I see here. All I see here is squiggly characters potentially at best and just squiggles at worst though. Portugal did do a lot of filigree though so it’s a great thought. They did a lot of vermeil filigree too which would be bad for me since I paid a gold price more than a silver price.

@J Dagger, You make me feel better.....when I work at trying to clear something up and I STILL can't see what it is, well, doesn't make feel better, BUT at least I know it's not my EYES.....when most is still clear as mud!!! The good part is I enjoy trying!!!:happy::hilarious:

Sometimes a blown-up blurry mess, clearly photographed, is just a larger blurry mess.

Hmmm.... Turkish? The Turks do filigree like that too and wouldn't have a problem making stuff for Christian tourists.

I'm getting a French vibe. Like the forget-me-not motif along with the virtues.

I kinda thought that mark on the bar was a french boars head mark.

Nice work Aqui- good micro lens & tripod would help.Maybe a jeweler can blow it up w/ a computerized microscope monitor & you'd get a cleaner pic to share.

I'm leaning to Portugal. Those are very Catholic emblems, and while Turkey absolutely made and makes crosses, this is a bit niche.

OBB, I am no expert in marks but Macedonia writes in Cyrillic and I would assume their marks would also be Cyrillic, while these look to me Arabic or other unknown for me symbols. And Macedonia is Orthodox not Catholic. Macedonia is pretty much like Bulgaria and Serbia in terms of history (it used to be part of the Bulgarian kingdom until Ottomans conquered it, and later after liberation became part of Jugoslavia, a Serbian dominated country) , culture and habits while here I don't have any familiar vibe. Although it might well be that I am too ignorant :joyful:

Ah, but Orthodox is way closer to catholic than your regular Church of England type Christianity, if you see what I mean. And Ohrid is known for filigree.
