I’ve cleaned off the brooch I found metal detecting this summer. I’d say it’s about 90% clean. It’s a real beauty! I think the ring around the center diamond was covered in black enamel originally. The diamonds made my tester sing. I know we don’t do values here but I have no intention of ever selling this piece and I’d like to know what people think just for my own personal curiosity. I see a lot of similar pieces with paste stones in the 250-500 range. Assuming this was professionally repaired I was thinking 500-1000 was probably pretty reasonable but I wonder if someone with much more experience selling Victorian jewelry may think differently? I didn’t see many results for examples with genuine diamonds. If it were me, I'd run a wire (to form a bail) through the remains of the tube hinge and wear it as a pendant. Problem solved. Then you could wear it while waiting to get it repaired.

Monetary value will depend heavily on the quality of the stones.

at that size, I don't think quality is in play.

the main stone could be 10 points...the others ...2 points.??......and I can se at least 1 isn't round..

Mine cut front the look of them...

good quality would be a bonus for sure.........but diamonds that size are not very valuable...

    imho

Great job, J, it turned out beautifully.:)
I agree, although there is no photo taken from the top (above) so you can see the shape, I also think they are old mine cuts.
That means that this is a piece for antique jewellery collectors, not for diamond jewellery buyers.

That doesn't mean that the diamonds don't add to the value, they do.
But when you look at the value of your little beauty, this is the right order: antique/period jewellery + gold + desirable design + old cut diamonds. Of the old cuts, the rose cuts are the most desirable for collectors.
