Hi dear Members, Today I bought this interesting art glass bowl and there are so many questions about it. First of all it is signed: "Jun. Ed - 98 Bertil Vallein". However, I haven't seen before Bertil's signature to be signed as a full name, all items I saw are signed "B.Vallein". Also I haven't seen year to be signed on B.vallein's items. And there is no a model number on this item like on others from his collections. The bowl itself is very similar to those from Chico collection. But this four footed base is something unusual, I couldn't find any other like this. Generally it looks like the bowl is from one stylistic and the base - from another and they were mixed together. I wonder whether it is some kind of sample (maybe prototype) that never became a part of collection, or it is a one of a kind item. Or could it be a fake?? Would appreciate any ideas and suggestions)
I am certain this is a Bertil bowl for Kosta Boda - once an artist commits a shape to a company they rarely if ever reproduce it in a different line or solo line - this is the era where a lot of Kosta items came with artist sigs but company (kosta) paper labels - these labels are often removed to display... here is the bowl without the pedestal - the pedestal would be an upgrade version - Kosta Boda Bertil Vallien Bowl blue art glass mid century MODERN vintage | eBay
Thank you Rclinftl, the bowl you refering to in link is exactly what I was talking about - it's from the Chico collection that was released in 1996 and my bowl is so so much similar to it. It's just this footed pedestal which confused me, as I was searching so many hours and I can't find a second bowl on pedestal like this. And in such moments start thinking that it could be either something infrequent, or something not original. That's why I wanted to know another opinions from someone more experienced Thank's again

It's a beautiful piece of glass. But, I have to admit, it would drive me crazy because the bowl is not centered on the pedestal. I'd feel the need to adjust it every time I looked at it.
I was wondering if this pedestal was only intended for the bowls that lean sideways on the stand and not for a straight bowl? Can your bowl be canted or would it fall over? (although the fact that it is not centered wouldn't bother me at all)
No, it can only stay straight, that's how it was attached Now I think there were few different design options of these bowls on pedestal, maybe, there is even one that is centred at the pedestal, we never know until we've got another example
