I just acquired this painting signed as P.G. Tiele but am unsure if it is genuine or a forgery. It is 24”x36” and of a California Mission. I do not know if I should have it verified and sell in auction or keep it. I really love it. IMG_1628.jpeg

Sorry, that is not a California mission. Were you told that it was by the seller? There are many works signed "P. G. Tiele" floating around the internet. They appear to be decorative rather than fine art so... If you love it, hang it and enjoy.

Probably one of the Italian lakes, Lago di Garda springs to mind. And agree, decorative.
A bit bigger, but it gets blurry:

Fantasy art. Hard to tell from photos if it's a painting or a print with brush marks added. Do the brush marks follow the painting or are they randomly applied

Yes, I'd think a generic Italian lake scene, a popular subject of decorative paintings.

Buildings like that do exist, in Italy for instance.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Just enhanced & enlarged 4X....can't tell for any brush marks....

This is not the best example I could find, but mass produced art, they often print a glaze over it that has brush marks. As I said, this is a bad example, but you want to look for brush marks that don't follow the actual image. tumblr_864e07c522c1ad0e140b7a52ab72c783_c96551d7_500.jpg

There are brushmarks that follow the image and cracking from the paint so it is an oil painting, but looks to be a forgery.

Not a forgery. It's a genuine oil painting. But it is not fine art. It was produced as a decorative piece.

Agree. There are so many "factory"-produced decorative pieces floating around these days.
