I got this vase at the same time as the Carlos Lopez (Nicaragua) vase I posted in the finds thread. This signature I couldn't figure out. It includes the figures from the Nazca Lines, so I included South American in my title. But the figures may be pertinent to other locales. I don't know enough to tell. Does anyone recognize this signature? I broke the signature down in case this helps, so two posts. It is 4 1/2 inches tall and roughly 6 1/2 inches in diameter at its widest point.

Please take a look, if you have time. Guesses count.

Think I see "Chileno." Maybe "Adamayo"? But it should be from Peru. Hum.

What is the meaning of Chileno?

a native or inhabitant of Chile

Chilean. But has to be Peru. In fact, that last word looks like a casual "Peru." If that's the case, the word in front will be a location.

This best I can see is "Manuel Atamayo" but I don't think that's correct.

I thought Peru too, just because of the symbols. I can see the "P"

That doesn't come up with anything. I saw an A or a H but maybe a M is right.

Peruvian symbols and Peruvian pottery style.
    I read Manuel Adamayo
    I don't see Chileno. Maybe Et(something).

How about this... "Manuel Adanaque." And "Chulucanas." Examples to be found with internet search but signatures vary.

Perfect. I hadn't recognized the style as I know nothing about Peruvian pottery. Luckily you are in the watch.
