Yeah it just doesn't look right when I've tried on 50s jackets with modern low cut jeans or trousers
They look like a crop top :)

Exactly (although, according to the New York Times, that's very on trend.)

That look only works if you are very young and very buff. (and likely gay, since I'm not seeing straight females finding it attractive.)

You have to be pretty svelte to pull off high waisted trousers as well, else you get the humpty dumpty effect

Can you image a man trying to pull that crop top look off with a muffin top :)

    Good lord

Since half my relatives are members of the SNP, and I grew up with stories of the '45 and Bonnie Prince Charlie, I'm so glad you got there in the end.:happy:

Yes, it is a dress kilt jacket, so for formal occasions. For other occasions they usually wear a tweed jacket.
Needless to say, the Bonnie Prince never wore a jacket like that.

Charles Edward was bonnie in his ways, charming. Despite some later claims, he wasn't called bonnie for his looks. He was a snazzy dresser though:

    Very snazzy !!

    Great info thanks Aj

For it to be a prince/king Charles the costume would have to come with a large pair of novelty stick on ears :):playful:
