Any idea how old is this Chinese ginger jar

    Modern. Sloppy work, missing the lid it had which was not the usual ginger jar shape. That color on the bottom.

    May not be Chinese, but Korean.

    it doesn't seem to have the same gravitas.....and the blue base seems later....
    maybe a homage to an earlier style..?

    I'll grant they do look similar...

    I agree. While the colour combinations would appeal to a Peranakan buyer, the execution of the designs is rather crude. I don't think it would be found in a Peranakan household.

    Just to explain: Peranakan ware was made in China and sold to the Peranakan (Straits 'Chinese') market. Colourful export ware, not solely for Peranakan buyers, some of it was also sold elsewhere.
