It looks brass and hand made, with glass stones (supposedly). It is made of twisted wire which looks stamped with decorative leaves and flowers, and the stones are attached with wires, too, that are twisted around the main stem of the brooch. It is about 5 cm long and 2 cm wide. The clasp is also unusual.

I have never seen anything similar before, very different from the usual Czech stuff found here. Please help with origin, age and any other info you can think of. Thank you so much!!

    Gorgeous, Iva!
I am getting a German Art Deco vibe. Love the detail, and great overall design.

I'm sorry I don't have much info on it, but this brooch is beautiful! :)

That subtle intricacy is stunning, isn't it.

Thank you, Any! I like it very much, too. It was very dirty, not it looks better after some cleaning.
German is very plausible if before 1944 as we were allies and well-off Bulgarians travelled there for business and for leisure.
After 1944 there was specialization within Comecon and East Germany was not producing much jewelry, it was assigned to Czechs, and thus most jewelry from that period here was Czech and unmarked. No one bothered to mark costume jewelry, trademarks were not something cherished or looked after.

It looks good though, you did a good job. If you have a sunshine cloth, maybe give the metal an extra rub?
Yes, I would say 1930s. It wouldn't have been cheap, so I can see a well-off Bulgarian businessperson buying this for a special lady.

Thanks, Any, I still don't have sunshine cloth and use simple home-made tricks like vinegar bath and baking soda polish. I plan to obtain though, and will try when I have it.
Thanks again! Very possible, I collect also vintage photographs, and have some taken in pre-WWII Germany.

It’s lovely. Reminds me of Viennese Whirl biscuits too.

Btw, the shape is called a 'bar brooch'. It would have been worn horizontally on or just below a collar, in the centre.
It looks great on a lapel too, following the diagonal line of the lapel.

Thank you, Houseful! Spot on, indeed quite similar in shape. I was wondering what they look like, something familiar but could not figure what. Can to be Austrian, then? Or this type of biscuits is typical also for Germany?
Many thanks, Any :kiss::kiss: I was just thinking of the lapel of my bright red summer jacket and how nice it would look on it. Will try and post the result later :joyful:

Yes, they are made in other parts of Europe as well, we have them too, as have the Germans.
    Oh, lovely.
