Featured Black stone Cameo, please help

Hello again,

I am posting this on behalf of an acquaintance, he would like to know whom is the man depicted in this cameo and how old it is. He thinks the cameo is made of black stone. The frame is yellow metal.
I apologise for inundating the feed with so many posts, I had couple of hours to myself this morning, how better to spend them then learning… and catching up with everyone on this forum. Xx

Could be Lava or perhaps Gutta Percha.

 

He is Zeus, wearing as headgear a modius, a corn measure, attribute of the Eastern god Serapis. The figure is usually called Zeus-Serapis or Serapis-Zeus.

 

I'm in the lava camp. Does not quite look like basalt. See

I have past the news, he is very grateful and thank you for sharing the knowledge.
He believes that it is a high value cameo, I can’t comment on it, can’t help him with that.
But I would ask in his behalf if you could put an age to it.

Late 1800s, oldest. To my eye the piece looks molded, not a desirable thing when it comes to value.
